Anyone know where to find the (I think) 21-disc DVD set?

Despite supposedly being deleted, quite a few of the box sets have
recently appeared in a couple of UK stores. If you live in the UK, try
either HMV or Virgin Megastores as from various postings on other
boards - especially in the bigger towns/cities - they have plenty for
only £49 (GBP).

If not in the UK, you could maybe try Amazon as although they are out
of stock they don't actually say they can't get it - might be worth a
try:-

Failing that, only other option looks to be e-bay:-

Excuse the newbie questions but I've been gone for a while.
What's the best DVD version?
Is this 21 volume set the same as Kinowelt?
What about the speed-up on the Kinowelt discs?

What about the speed-up on the Kinowelt discs?
Any PAL-format disc will have the movies sped up. It is terrible; Stan and
Ollie don't sound like themselves. But what can you do? The US owners of
the films have no interest in any return on their investment, so we have
to go to Europe to get them.

NTSC countries (where films are played at their proper speed on video)
are: Antigua, Bahamas, Barbados, Barbuda, Belize, Bermuda, Bolivia, Burma,
Cambodia, Canada, Cayman Islands, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba,
Ecuador, El Salvador , Guam, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Japan,
Mexico, Midway Islands, Netherland Antilles, Nicaragua, North Mariana
Island, Panama, Peru, Philippines, Puerto Rico, Saint Lucia, Saint Kitts,
Saint Vincent, Saipan, Samoa, South Korea, Surinam, Taiwan, Tobago,
Trinidad, United States, Venezuela, and Virgin Islands.

If you can find a quality L&H release in any of those countries, a whole
lot of people would like to know. (And don't concern yourself with
Tengokufutaridouchuu-- that's just another release of The Flying Deuces.)

Well, also, if you play your DVDs on a computer, rather than a
standalone DVD player, there are some software programs that will
correct for PAL speedup. I use Intervideo WinDVD myself.

I've always found the "speed up" claim to be a bit exaggerated. I
have the German Kinowelts, and on my DVD player the speed-up is only
really noticeable on about two of the discs. Additionally, my DVD
player's remote control actually has a speed option that lets me slow
or speed things up, so that on any films that are sped up, I just use
that. On the remote, it is a symbol that looks like a lower-cased "b"
- if you have that on your remote, then you have the capability to
bring the speed back to what was originally intended. Worth looking
into because the majority of the Kirchgroup prints (which appear on
the German, UK, and I think Dutch sets) are real stunners. "Our
Relations" in particular.

Yes, but unfortunately nowhere near the big towns or cities. There are
three HMV's and two Virgin Megastores around my area and not one of
them has the set - in fact I can't remember the last time I actually
saw the set in a shop/store. If any help, the people that have seen it
posted on the Laurel and Hardy Forum and the relevant thread - think
you now have to register to read the posts - is here:-

For the moment, the set is again available at www.amazon.co.uk for
£110.98.
