Based on the emails I've gotten and the messages on my website (not to
mention the fact that nobody had bothered to post anything about it

It says a lot that MGM is promoting this under the generic "Holiday
Collection" title (which tells nothing to anybody) when they should be
beating the drums for the Laurel & Hardy part of it. Did you see that
cover? It could be anything!
