Every year, the National Film Registry selects twenty-five
"culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant" American
films for preservation in the Library of Congress. Films at least ten
years old are considered, including silent films as well as short
films. The public can nominate films to be included on the list, and
the public's votes are considered during the selection process. So
far, a number of early comedies have appeared on the list, including
works by Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton, Harold Lloyd, Laurel & Hardy,
and Max Davidson...but so far, no Charley Chase. Chase's classic
silent comedy "Mighty Like a Moose" (1926) is, according to the
Registry, among those "fairly well-known films not yet selected to the
Registry", and is routinely nominated each year for inclusion in the
Registry.

So, I propose that Chase fans band together and individually vote for
"Mighty Like a Moose" this year in an effort to get Charley Chase on
the National Film Registry. Simply send an email to ***@loc.gov,
noting that you are voting for "Mighty Like a Moose" for the National
Film Registry (you can vote for other films as well, with a maximum of
50 titles). Let's get Charley Chase on the National Film Registry in
2007! It's about time!
