The English version of Norbert Aping's incredible book on the making
of ATOLL K has finally been released as a few weeks ago. (search
amazon.com)

For anyone with a shred of interest in Laurel & Hardy beyond "Ollie's
the fat guy, right?", this book is a must. Norbert has dug incredibly
deep into the making-of, international distribution and marketing, and
the ongoing history of this misunderstood and much maligned film. Its
singular focus makes it one of the most fascinating Laurel & Hardy
books published since Scott MacGillivray's "From The Forties
Forward".

A brief interview can be found here...

And a short interview with the author...

Buy it, support a fantastic effort, and learn stuff you've never known
before! :)

I just received this book from Amazon. It looks very good --
well-researched with many rare photos. Above all, it will be enjoyable to
read a L&H book exploring new ground with new information.

This is fascinating. I've always wondered why W.K. Everson always insisted
upon listing John Berry as the film's codirector even though there was no
official confirmation of this. Evidentally Berry's participation was a
fact--but how did Everson get this "inside info" 45 years ago when Suzy
Delair only recently confirmed it?

The book will undoubtedly answer all my questions.
