What has happended with the Laurel & Hardy DVDs in Europe. Both the German
and Universal DVDs are gone. Does anyone know who holds the rights and if
there are any plans of new releases?

All the German (Kinowelt) and Universal - UK DVDs are now out of print
and no longer available. Their license with the Kirch Group has
expired. Don't know about the Benolux sets. At Basta Music they only
have the features sets available. Maybe they are out of print also.

Only way to obtain the Kinowelt and Universal discs are through
dealers such as on Ebay at inflated prices.

Some of the individual Universal-UK discs can still be found on
amazon.

Actually, I just ordered and received a brand-spankin'-new DVD of
ZENOBIA from amazon.de (Germany) last week at the same old price.

german Kirch Group - and have the new copyrigthowners any plans for new

The Kirch Group are still the copyright holders in Europe. They do not
make the DVDs themselves but license the home video rights to
companies like Kinowelt in Germany, benelux in Holland and Universal
in the UK.
