I realize this question has probably been asked 102,385,199 times but here it goes again. I am itching to get my hands on that 21 DVD box set. I understand it's for Region 2 and PAL vice Region 1 and NTSC. I know there is software that will strip Region codes and I know there are DVD players that ignore the Region code and can select between PAL and NTSC.

My question is this, has anyone in the USA ever bought the disks and either ran them in a DVD player that can choose between PAL & NTSC and ignore the country codes OR has anyone ever tan them through the software to remove the Region code, copy, and then play in a region 1 DVD player? if so did it work?

Thanx for the help!

I have a Philips DVP5140 DVD player, which is one of many models that
can be hacked to play DVDs from any region. Out of the box, it plays
both NTSC and PAL discs. After performing the region hack (a simple
process, the steps for which can easily be found on numerous sites
using Google), I am able to play either NTSC or PAL discs from any
region.

You can play region 2 DVDs on your computer using a free program
called DVD43. I've tried it, and it works fine. It is also possible to
make a copy of a region 2 disc using a free program called DVD
Decrypter, which can remove both region code protection and
Macrovision protection; you can then play the copy on your DVD player.
I have successfully tried this as well. DVD Decrypter is no longer in
development and is "officially" no longer available, but you can
easily find a copy using Google.

Mutli-region/Code free players can also be purchased from many online
sellers.
I bought all my players at http://www.220-electronics.com they are
very reliable. good customer service and a call in tech help service.
Very helpful people who will answer all your questions over the phone.

Unfortunately you're a tad too late, the Universal 21-DVD set is now
out of print. Their license with the Kirch Group, the European rights
holders of most the Laurel and hardy Hal Roach shorts and features has
expired. Online dealers and Ebay sellers are selling it for a very
high price now. Individual discs can still be obtained through
amazon.com. Some titles are very hard to find such as Volume 16
"Maritime Adventures" fetching as much as $120.00 each on Ebay.

Glad I bought the set when it first came out.
