Turner Classic Movies has shown several Todd & Kelly shorts since
January (as well as one Kelly & Kelton), and several Todd & Pitts in
late 2006.

The "talkie" Roach films have been on TCM since June 2006. They've
been broadcast in short (pun intended) bursts, with The Taxi Boys, The
Boyfriends, Todd & Pitts, Charley Chase, Todd & Kelly, and a few one-
shots with Billy Gilbert, the "military" streamliners with Joe Sawyer,
etc., and even a never-released Gilbert & Bletcher in January. Among
all that, some L&H's have shown up.

All the above have been announced, here, on as regular a basis as
possible over the past 9 months. *

* TCM's shorts & cartoon fillers ("One-Reel Wonders") are scheduled
on an approx. week-to-week basis. As soon as available, a TCM rep
posts the updates on the cable station's website forum, here...

@ today, Roach shorts (if any) for the 2nd week of March are pending.

I wonder why they don't show more L&H? Or more Rascals/Gang? I've
caught some of the generally lesser-known Roach series on TCM, Charley
Chase, Taxi Boys, Todd/Pitts, and so on, and frankly I find most of
these a bore. In my life I've seen nearly every L&H Roach effort,
never one I'd call out and out bad, and the Rascals made plenty of
entertaining ones too. These should predominate but TCM concentrates
on the (from what I've come across) forgettable series. I'd rather if
TCM played the Stooges' Columbia shorts (if "artistic" means funny the
knuckleheads generally qualified) than what they seem to focus on from
Roach: to put it frankly the lousy ones. I hear Chase and the other
Roach lesser-knowns came up with superior episodes along the way but
I've not come across these on TCM. Maybe TCM weeded those out along
with all the delightful L&H shorts. Maybe they've got a depressively
deranged program director who hates good comedy and loves to be bored
and wants us to share his misery. He is succeeding so far with me.

The Hal Roach produced 1930's The Little Rascal's shorts television
rights are controlled by King World and are not part of the RHI/
Hellmark holdings, who own video rights to the Rascals. That's why TCM
isn't showing these, they lisenced the broadcast rights of the Hal
Roach library from RHI. You will only see the MGM made OUR GANG
comedies on TCM because Turner/Warners owns those outright.

I believe they have licensed the TV rights to the American Life cable
channel, which shows them regularly.
