Just got off the phone with Louise, who asked me to break the news that
our dear friend collapsed earlier today while training for a triathlon.
His scholarship and spirit of camaraderie will be greatly missed by
everyone on the internet and his loss, most personally and deeply felt.

Dear God, that's awful. I just received a message from him changing his
e-mail. It's always the most
banal communication that turns out to be the last.
He will be missed.

Mr. Neibaur was responsible for my renewed interest in silent and sound
short comedies. And not just L&H or the Stooges, his comments actually made
me look for films by Keaton, Arbuckle, Chase, Lloyd and many others.

Thank you Mr. Niebaur.

Oh, that's terrible news.

I was just watching "The Paleface" last weekend with my wife (who had
never seen it) and I thought of him. To be fully honest, I was
thinking a little unkindly how grossly he overrates that movie, but
still. I'll really miss him.

Well, the hoaxing rat-bastard suckeered me in, he did. Glad to hear it
was all bullshit.

Are you feeling OK?

Do you really train for triathlons?

Can you identify one single really great joke in "The Paleface"?

Too subjective -- you do not think The Paleface is all that funny, I
never laughed at SNL.

I still have a mental image of you as James Lipton (sorry -- or should
I be apologizing to Lipton?) which would be more appropriate if you
were dead.

I'm happy that you are not.

I was always told I looked like Gene Simmons from KISS, but now that I
no longer have much hair to wear it long, I shave my head. So I look
like Gene Simmons with a shaved head. But nothing like Lipton.

I'm so saddened to read that. I've never posted much but I've lurked for
years and always looked forward to his posts.

My deepest sympathy to his friends and family (including his internet
family).

You will be relieved to know that unlike the jokes in a typical Pauly Shore
comedy, Jim Neibaur is alive.

I'm glad it was joke, though a very tasteless one.

As to Pauly Shore, I've been spared the most of his humor(?). The only movie
I've seen him in is "Encino Man".
