Fans from around the world will be gathering at the end of July for
the most comprehensive tour of locations from the Hal Roach Studios.
Today the tour guides gathered to check out some of the sights to be
visited and went on a "pre-tour" to map out the order.
I am one of the priviledged guides and it was exciting to be in front
of the houses seen in PERFECT DAY, BIG BUSINESS, HOG WILD, TOWED IN A
HOLE, among others and to be at locations seen in THE FINISHING TOUCH,
BACON GRABBERS and the buildings seen at the end of WE FAW DOWN and
BLOCKHEADS when the men leap from the windows.
In addition, we will be stopping by the park used extensively in MEN
O' WAR......there are so many locations.....
..... Here are some of the films that guests will see locations
for....

Newly discovered locations on this tour include the mansion from
Another Fine Mess, the street in front of Ollie's house from Me and My
Pal, and the mansion seen in Love 'em and Weep. A short walking tour
of Hog Wild locations will also include some newly discovered
buildings.
The tour will include the never-before-seen location of the gates from
The Second Hundred Years (also seen briefly in The Hoose-Gow). We will
visit the spot where Laurel first met Hardy onscreen in The Lucky Dog.
Also new on this tour is the alleyway seen at the end of both Block-
Heads and Should Married Men Go Home. A walking tour of the park from
Men 'O War will explain how the film was made. Of course, no tour is
complete without a walk up the Music Box Steps. The afternoon will
conclude with a visit to Stan Laurel's grave and Oliver Hardy's
grave.
We are hiring comfortable buses to tour with in style and there will
be video presentations on each bus to prepare the tourists for each
upcoming attraction. This is going to be a weekend to remember.
There are so many more sights to see during this two day event
including a wonderful banquet celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the
Way Out West Tent of the Sons Of The Desert at the Westin Hotel close
to LAX. We have secured a fabulous rate at the Hotel for our attendees
so getting to and from the airport will be easy.
No joke- THIS IS GONNA BE GREAT!
